A Fruity Day

Today I am in a fruity mood. Its 4 in the evening and I have been gulping down fruit juices since morning. This mood is the result of a day of shopping in the scorching sun and this refreshing picture of the strawberries. Check the picture, the splashes of pure water and fresh reddy strawberries have been filmed in a most captivating style.

Today is Saturday. Woke up with the determination of achieving the ‘n’ number of tasks which keep repeatedly appearing in my to-do lists for every weekend. And the top priority goes to purchasing a To-Do List book, without which my tasks for the weekends to come would remain unattained, forever.

On setting foot out of our home, I was caught unaware by the blinding sun and the burning heat. The sun looks especially ferocious today. Looks like even the sun had a very bad week and faces a hectic weekend, after which starts yet another week of similar rituals, some of them highly grueling. Automatically, I dug into my bag in search of my precious pal, my umbrella. On a hot sunny day like today, nothing could be more needed than the umbrella. And hence I set out on my seemingly long journey of completing the uncompleted.

After about 2 hours, I was loaded with packets. Passers-by were giving my packets quizzical stares. In addition to purchasing jeans, 2 pairs of earrings and a whole lot of groceries for our cooking at home, I had also been to the library. Following my ritual quota of books, I picked out a novel and was searching through the Archies Comics collection, when I sensed a little head peeking out at me with a surprised look and bulging eyes. The little chap, with an Archies in hand, must have been around 10 years old. Do I know him??? My mind was googling at lightning speed to place him somewhere in my memory when I saw his eyes dashing to and from my face to the book. And then it hit me. A 10 year old and a 27 year old with Archies in hands. Well, a penny for my thought. I would have loved to know his thought too..

With most of the tasks crossed in my list, I approached my last stop, the Fruit Shop. From time immemorial, fruits have been considered as one of the greatest sources of nourishment and health. With every ounce of energy drained out of my every cell, I set down my packets and asked for a tender coconut, the best in times of the burning climate. But one wasn’t enough. So while an orange was getting juiced, my eyes fell upon apples, which even though not interested in, had to be bought and eaten, according to my Mom. ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ hence goes the all–time favorite old saying. ‘And if the doctor is handsome, keep the apple away’, hence goes the revised version. With apples too added to my increasing number of packets and no spare hand for my pal umbrella, I headed home, tired and drenched with a swelling headache on its way. Nevertheless, I was elated, having achieved my target for today. And now all that I needed was to get back to my shelter and rejuvenate in the coolness of my home.

With the dream of a cool lime juice in one hand and the remote in the other, under a full speed fan, I rang the bell. And my roomie opened the door, looking in a not-so-good mood and drenched in sweat. Fearing the worst, I stepped in to hear the declaration that for the next few months, absolutely no power from morning till evening on Saturdays.

What a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
